Hearth and Home Midwifery is made up of two midwives, Sarah McClure and Charli Zarosinski. They provide holistic Homebirth midwifery services in Hood River, Oregon. Midwifery care includes prenatal care, home birth, and in-home postpartum care to women and babies. Clients in midwifery care have 24-7 access to one of the midwives. Clients have monthly prenatal appointments until third trimester, when they are seen more frequently. The midwives offer labs, ultrasounds, screens, and all the normal injections offered in any maternity care setting. Midwives are experts in waterbirth. In fact, about half of the births attended by the Hearth and Home Midwifery practice are waterbirth, and the vast majority of clients labor in the water even if they do not give birth in the water. Both of the midwives are skilled in breastfeeding support, natural pregnancy support, nutrition and herbal recommendations, pelvic floor assessment, well-woman care within the childbearing year, and many other aspects of well pregnancy and postpartum care. The midwives attend births in both Washington and Oregon, and are Certified Professional Midwives (CPM) through the North American Registry of Midwives. The midwifery model of care views pregnancy and birth as natural, physiologic processes and and the midwives of Hearth and Home Midwifery believe that you already have everything you need to grow and birth your baby- you just need a safe container in which to do it.
