Sarah and Charli provided outstanding care throughout my prenatal care, labor, delivery and post-partum care. If you are considering a home birth, these ladies are extremely prepared and professional and we cannot recommend their caring services highly enough!

I entered their care about six months into my second pregnancy after tiring of barely 15-minute monthly check ups that didn’t address the multitude of physical and emotional aspects of pregnancy and new motherhood I was experiencing.  I had a low risk pregnancy and I had wanted to have a home birth with my first child, but was unsure about how to navigate finding midwifery care and insurance being located in the Columbia Gorge. Hearth & Home Midwifery made it straightforward and easy to understand.

I’m so grateful for Sarah and Charli’s entire period of care— their prenatal care was thorough, helpful, and exceptionally warm. My labor progressed exactly as they had predicted, after my toddler went to sleep. It was moving, emotional, and precious to be able to deliver my baby into my and my husband’s hands. The postpartum aspect of their care was truly outstanding - having them visit you and your newborn in the cozy bubble of your home is very special and such a relief instead of trips to the doctors office in such a tender state (for the mother and the newborn). They were also very helpful and informed about post partum care needs.

Home birth has some connotations of bygone days, and while nothing is guaranteed and there is risk associated with any pregnancy, these licensed, very professional caregivers are prepared for and skilled at addressing normal pregnancy complications. With Hearth & Home, I had a great deal more information to share with concerned family members about home birth and Sarah and Charli are happy to navigate this with you if you wish. Overall,  I felt so much more informed about what was happening with the baby and my body in their care compared to my first pregnancy (despite obsessive research).  This knowledge helped me feel very confident and supported about my ability to safely deliver my baby at home.  If you have considered this type of birth, I highly recommend reaching out to Hearth & Home Midwifery! — Adrianne
